SPECIAL CARE UNIT (SCU)
Intercare’s Special Care Unit (SCU) is a 23 bed unit that provides residents who have an acquired brain injury with specialized care in a safe, secure, respectful and compassionate living environment that focuses on maximizing resident function.

The Special Care Unit Team consists of:
- Attending Physicians who provide care in collaboration with the special care team and in consultation with Alberta Health Services/Calgary Zone.
- Clinical Team Leader is responsible for the overall operation of the Special Care Unit and coordinates care with residents, families, staff and Attending Physicians
- Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurse who provide 24 hour nursing care and support.
- Resident Care Aides provides personal care and daily assistance.
- Recreation Therapy programming that offers social and quality of life activities aimed at maximizing resident growth and potential.
- Ready access to Social Work, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry and Dietary professionals, each of whom works to meet the individual resident needs.
