Behavioural Support Unit
Intercare’s Behavioural Support Unit (BSU) is a 38 bed unit that provides individuals (over 18 years of age) who have complex behaviors and who cannot be managed in a regular LTC setting with specialized care in a safe, secure, respectful and compassionate living environment that focuses on maximizing resident function.
The Behavioural Support Unit Team consists of:
Attending Physicians who provide care in collaboration with the special care team and in consultation with Alberta Health Services/Calgary Zone.
Clinical Team Leader is responsible for the overall operation of the Behavioural Support Unit and coordinates care with residents, families, staff and Attending Physicians
Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses who provide 24 hour nursing care and support.
Resident Care Aides who provide personal care and daily assistance.
Recreation Therapy programming that offers social and quality of life activities aimed at maximizing resident growth and potential.
Ready access to Social Work, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Dietary and Psychiatry professionals, each of whom works to meet the resident’s individual care needs.
