Special Care Unit – Acquired Brain Injury
Intercare’s Special Care Unit (SCU) is a 23 bed unit that provides residents who have an acquired brain injury with specialized care in a safe, secure, respectful and compassionate living environment that focuses on maximizing resident function.
The Special Care Unit Team consists of:
Attending Physicians who provide care in collaboration with the special care team and in consultation with Alberta Health Services/Calgary Zone.
Clinical Team Leader is responsible for the overall operation of the Special Care Unit and coordinates care with residents, families, staff and Attending Physicians
Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurse who provide 24 hour nursing care and support.
Resident Care Aides provides personal care and daily assistance.
Recreation Therapy programming that offers social and quality of life activities aimed at maximizing resident growth and potential.
Ready access to Social Work, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry and Dietary professionals, each of whom works to meet the individual resident needs.
