VOLUNTEERING AT INTERCARE

Volunteers are a very important part of the Intercare Team. Volunteering with Intercare provides a great opportunity to make a difference in a resident’s life!

Volunteers enhance the quality of life for residents by supplementing services offered by staff. In addition, volunteering provides an opportunity for members of our community to share their talents and build relationships with our residents, staff and other community members.

There are two (2) care streams of volunteering at Intercare: Long Term Care and Hospice.

Volunteers in Long Term Care settings assist with Recreation Therapy programs, Occupational and Physiotherapy programs, meals, outings, visiting and Pastoral Care. Many of these programs in Long Term Care are held in group settings.

Volunteers in Hospice settings provide support as visitors or in activities such as music, art or assistance with resident hobbies. Many of the residents in hospice are bedbound and so these activities tend to be in resident rooms/at bedside.

Whether volunteering in a Hospice or Long Term Care setting, you will be sharing your time, talents and skills with some very special people.
